Hello!
I’m Richard. A professional Actor, Puppeteer, and Voice Over Artist with fifteen years experience, based in Manchester in the UK.
I started my career as an actor, training at Mountview Academy, and working the fringe circuit. In that time I made a move into puppetry, as a co-founder and key collaborater of Flabbergast Theatre, and our flagship production Boris & Sergey.
Need a Puppeteer? Puppetry has taken me all over the world, from the USA to Russia, to Europe and the Middle East. I have supported bands [Edward Sharpe Quartet, Plan B], and performed at numerous festivals [Latitude/Zigu Zaga/Moving Parts/The Puppetry Festival/Edinburgh Fringe Festival]. It has also provided me with the opportunity to work with the National Theatre [War Horse], Kate Bush [Before the Dawn], the Glyndebourne Opera [Die Zauberflote], Plymouth Theatre Royal [Clockwork Canaries], and Bolton Octagon [The BFG] to name a few. I am experienced in all styles and techniques, specialising in Bunraku.
Need a teacher? I have taught puppetry technique at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, East 15, The Actors Centre, West End Workshops, Pineapple Dance Studios, for Les Enfants Terribles, and various schools, community centres and collages, to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Need a Puppetry Director? I have directed and been puppetry consultant for Flabbergast Theatre, Les Enfants Terribles, Southwark Playhouse, The Bolton Octagon, and Nicoll entertainment, as well as acting as Puppetry Captain on several productions [Hansel & Gretel, The BFG, Clockwork Canaries, Dinosaur World Live, Dragons & Mythic Beasts].
Need a Voice Over? I have always had strength as a character actor, and a good ear for accents. In the last few years I have made a move into Voice Over, with a particular focus on video games. As a keen gamer myself, it has been a dream come true to work on them. I am now keen to focus further on voice work and branch into all areas of the industry. I can advertise your company, voice your animation, narrate your quest and do everything in between.
Anything Else? I play instruments [Banjo, Guitar, Ukelele, and Mountain Dulcimer] and sing, I have dabbled in writing, having co-written all seven Boris & Sergey shows, 'Sandy' a children's mini series for the Sports Charity 'Sporting Communities', and the Online mini Series 'Scrag End'. I am also a history nerd.
